The “Wail” call of the common loon echoing over the calm misty waters of a North Woods lake is haunting. Perhaps the loveliest loon call, its’ most often used to call to a missing mate or newborn. Regardless of when or where I hear this call I think “Wilderness. Even on a busy resort lake the mournful cry sweeps all the clutter away as I visualize sharing a quiet moment on a peaceful, blue, secluded, wilderness lake with these beautiful birds. One of my favorite wildlife subjects I have spent countless hours over the past several years taking thousands of images that capture their behavior and life cycle. Thse are some of my favorite loon images. Please feel free to contact me if interested in purchasing "Use Rights" or prints.
