The weather reports were not promising. High winds, forty to fifty miles per hour with even stronger gusts that would create near white out conditions from blowing sand. I knew photographing in these conditions would be challenging and was unsure if I would have much success. To protect my equipment from the blowing sand, I sealed my favorite lens in a clear plastic bag. It was amazing soon how dramatically the wind had altered the landscape in just one day. The soft flowing ripples I had first photographed had now taken on a more irregular and strange pattern. You could see white clouds of sand rising up into the clear blue sky. I felt like I was in an alien world.
