It was an ugly morning along Lake Superior. A steady breeze brought with it a chill and dark, autumn clouds. The thin band of clearing was quickly disappearing on the Eastern horizon. I realized it would not be a dramatic sunrise and began to search for something interesting to photograph. I eyed a few fallen, birch leaves resting on the sand. The image seems to convey the transition of seasons from the warm days of summer to the brilliant colors and cooler temperature of autumn.
